I Almost Forgot It Was About Having Fun

This work began with the creation of a character navigating queerness. We drew inspiration from the memories of my friend and her group, Los Vagabundos, while train hopping across the U.S. in the 1990s — a traveller’s recollection. We began sketching a scene, featuring clothes, a map, and empty water bottles.

The installation extends the story’s themes into physical form —
It became less about reproducing a memory and more about trying to remember it. The patchwork textiles became both metaphor and memory. The fabric absorbs traces, folds, and irregularities — marks that reflect not only the physical space but also how memories form: imperfectly, emotionally, and in fragments.
